The yearly meeting of the SIGNLL, the Special Interest Group on Natural Language Learning of the Association for Computational Linguistics. The 2008 conference was held as a workshop of Coling 2008 in Manchester, UK, August 16-17, 2008.
95 papers were submitted to CoNLL-2008, of which 20 were accepted (acceptance rate: 21%). Additionally the proceedings contain an overview paper for the shared task and 19 participant papers. The best paper award was won by the paper TAG, Dynamic Programming, and the Perceptron for Efficient, Feature-Rich Parsing by Xavier Carreras, Michael Collins and Terry Koo (pdf). The conference was attended by approximately 90 people.
