The COREA project is a cooperation project between two academic partners, namely the Alfa-informatica group of the university of Groningen and the CNTS group of the university of Antwerp and one industrial partner, Language and Computing.

The composition of the research team is as follows:

The CNTS goup at the University of Antwerp has extensive experience with machine learning for NLP and with text mining applications, and has started to develop and infrastructure for coreference research (PhD of Veronique Hoste). The Alfa-informatica group at Groningen University contributes expertise in the area of full syntactic parsing of unrestricted text, and has started to develop a system for open-domain question-answering. Both groups have experience with corpus annotation for various tasks. Language and Computing contributes its expertise with the development for the medical domain of natural language processing applications in general, and Information Extraction applications and ontology building in particular. They will contribute to application-oriented evaluation of the developed coreference resolution system and will investigate feasibility of its incorporation in their products.
